Introducing Our High Quality Breeding Programs:

Emira Valais Blacknose Sheep

Home

valais blacknose sheep iconValais Blacknose Sheep, ‘the cutest sheep in the world’ originated in Switzerland.  They are a rare breed worldwide and extremely rare in Australia, with the first semen and embryos arriving here in October 2020.

It is exciting to be part of the breeding up program of Valais Blacknose Sheep in Australia.

This means we used pure Valais Blacknose semen to breed our existing small flock. That gave us F1 (50%) Valais Blacknose ewes.

We will repeat the process with each generation for five generations until we get to F5 (96.88%)

Along the way the boys will not be a part of the breeding program. As a result, we raise our boys explicitly as pets for small farms.

To see what lambs we have available now, check out the adoption page.

For more information about the breed in general or about becoming a breeder of these beautiful creatures, why not visit the Valais Blacknose Australia page? Or check out the Valais Blacknose Sheep in Australia Facebook page.

You can also follow us, Emira Valais Blacknose, on Facebook to see what we’re up to and for cute lamb pics… and who doesn’t like cute lamb pics!

Kellessy Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Home

Nigerian dwarf goats are a small breed of dairy goat originating from West Africa. They are known for the high butterfat content of their milk and can produce up to, on average, 1.8 litres of milk per day.

They are a relatively new breed in Australia, having only been registered here since 2016, and they have quickly become popular for small-scale dairy operations and hobby farms.

These lovely goats are also known for their friendly and docile dispositions, making them easy to handle and a popular choice as pets or companion animals.

If you are considering adding a Nigerian Dwarf goat to your farm or small holding, please make sure you have access to a goat knowledgeable vet and/or an experienced goat breeder for help with diet and parasite control information.

As with the Valais Black Nose sheep, we are currently engaged in a breeding up program, using pure Nigerian Goat semen to breed our current herd of dairy goats. It will take us a number of years to achieve our goal of a small goat dairy of Nigerian Dwarf does.

Along the way the boys will primarily be raised specifically as pets for farms or small holdings and be offered for adoption from time to time. Keep an eye out here, or follow us on the Billabong Hobby Farm Facebook page.
